The renewal of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovations Act (PAHPA) has been passed by the Senate and House of Representatives; it is now sent to President Trump to be signed into law. PAHPA is a bi-partisan law and its goal is to support emergency preparedness for health-related disasters, such as infectious disease outbreaks and bioterrorism. Some of the efforts that PAHPA funds are: trainings for healthcare providers for infectious disease outbreaks, the development of the national stockpile for medical equipment and vaccines and establishing new committees for particularly vulnerable populations in public health emergencies.
