Leaders in New Jersey proposed legislation this week that would require New Jersyians looking to purchase a firearm to buy insurance and complete gun-safety training before gaining access to a weapon. It also allows the state to ban concealed carry weapons in many different locations. This legislation is a response to the New York State public carry laws overturned by a recent supreme court decision. Lawmakers in New Jersey offer common sense as a support behind the law, saying that the places they are trying to ban weapons from are those where it should be relatively obvious that they are not needed.
