NYTimes: Hoping to Carry a Gun in New Jersey? You Might Need Insurance First.

Leaders in New Jersey proposed legislation this week that would require New Jersyians looking to purchase a firearm to buy insurance and complete gun-safety training before gaining access to a weapon. It also allows the state to ban concealed carry weapons in many different locations. This legislation is a response to the New York State public carry laws overturned by a recent supreme court decision. Lawmakers in New Jersey offer common sense as a support behind the law, saying that the places they are trying to ban weapons from are those where it should be relatively obvious that they are not needed. As expected, Pro-Gun organizations such as the Gun Owners of America have quickly threatened to take the legislation to court should it pass.
