Researchers Find A 35% Rise in Climate Related Misinformation On Youtube Since 2018

Researchers have collected over 12,000 Youtube from 2018 to 2023 in an effort to track the spread of climate misinformation on the platform. The data was taken from 96 YouTube channels and analyzed by AI to categorize the videos as “old” or “new” denial of climate change. The report published found that up to 70% of all climate denial claims on YouTube in 2023, a significant increase from the 35% in 2018, showing the rapid rise of misinformation.
