A new study has suggested that a higher consumption of cholesterol, such as through the consumption of egg, can lead to increased risk of heart disease and premature death. The study gathered data on about 30,000 individuals from six different cohort studies. They analyzed heart health and dietary styles when these participants were about 52 years old and compared it to their health outcomes. Recently, there has been no official recommended restriction on egg consumption, however, a doctor working on the study suggests that this evidence needs to be taken into account in the formation of new dietary recommendations. They say that their evidence shows that cardiovascular disease risk increases 6% for each additional half egg eaten daily as well as an increased risk of death by 8%.
