Record levels of CO2 found in the atmosphere

CO2 levels in the atmosphere hit a record high last year, with levels increasing over 50% higher than levels seen on average over the last decade. The extremely high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is said to be due to a mixture of factors, mainly human activities and the El Nino weather, which results in high CO2 levels due to plants inability to absorb CO2 during drought- like conditions. According to the WMO, the World Meteorological Organization, CO2 concentration hit, on average, 403.3 parts per million. As a result of WMO’s research results, many are concerned over the rapidly increasing amounts of CO2 and the resulting effects that will occur very soon in the future.
