Gum Disease Can Lead to Cancer

Two novel studies conclude that bacteria causing the gum disease periodontitis can lead to pancreatic cancer, one of the most fatal cancer types. Previous literature demonstrates many examples of cancers caused by gum disease. Furthermore, gum diseases could lead to an increase in risk of a wide variety of cancers. However, brushing one’s teeth is an effective way to kill off bacteria and avoid these diseases.
