Measles Outbreak Spreads to Hong Kong

Japan and Taiwan are on high alert due to recent measles outbreaks in both countries. In Japan, specifically in Okinawa, there are currently 70 reported cases of measles and, in Taiwan, there are 23 cases, the highest number of measles cases reported in Taiwan in nine years. The spread of the disease is believed to have originated with a Taiwanese man traveling in Thailand and then in Okinawa, where he was diagnosed. Recently, a case of measles was reported in Hong Kong, with 20 other individuals under surveillance. The individual reported recently returned from a trip to Thailand.
