What are hospitals like Johns Hopkins doing to prepare for mass casualty incidents?

In the wake of mass shooting and disasters worldwide, hospitals around the world are preparing to treat patients following multiple casualty incidents (MCI’s). Following the Las Vegas mass shooting, Johns Hopkins discussed their efforts and protocol to respond to such emergencies. Following an MCI a disaster plan at Hopkins is activated resulting in staff and department alerts, activation of an incident command system, discharging or admitting patients to make room in the Emergency Department, among other steps.
