Daily Bulletin: HIV `PrEP’ Pill Outreach Campaign Targets At-Risk Women

PrEP is a successful combination pill at preventing HIV in 99% of those who take it daily. It has worked tremendously well in high risk groups such as some homosexual men. However, there has been some difficulty in seeing reliable usage in female populations. It has been reported that yearly there are around 200 new cases of HIV, with 80% being of Latina or Black ethnicity. To encourage PrEP use among these populations, Los Angeles is currently running a ‘GetPrEP LA’ campaign, which includes a video series raising awareness of PrEP among young women.
