Qatar Implements Prison Sentences for the Spread of Fake News

Qatar has amended a new article to its penal code that sets criminal penalties for the spread of fake news with ill-intent. The punishment for spreading fake news is a sentence of up to 5 years in prison. However, the new articles do not specifically define what determines information to be fake news or what procedures to be used in order to determine so.
