Reuters: In many U.S. states, teens can’t file for partner violence protective order

The age when people legally are allowed to file for a protective order against intimate partners, generally called civil protective order (CPOs), varies by the states within the U.S. This is especially pertinent to teens and minors. For example, 48 states allow for minors to file for CPOs, but only 14 states allow for minors to file for themselves. Moreover, what minor are allowed to file a CPO for varies (sexual violence, threats of physical and/or sexual violence, stalking, psychological/ emotional violence, among others).
