NYTimes: What if ‘Herd Immunity’ Is Closer Than Scientists Thought?

The New York Times interviewed multiple scientists to ask about the thresholds of achieving herd immunity. Most scientists in the past have mentioned a level of 70% of a population to have become immune through a vaccination or survival of the virus in order to achieve herd immunity. The interviewed scientists are now mentioning a much lower threshold of 50% to achieve herd immunity. However, there is still much question as to the success of herd immunity.
