The Wall Street Journal: U.S. Coronavirus Death Toll Tops 200,000

As the Coronavirus death toll tops 200,000 in the United States we are forced to reflect upon our successes and failures in confronting this pandemic. According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States leads the world in total confirmed cases and deaths. Disjointed rules and regulations, testing delays, and limited resources were some of the problems that hindered our effectiveness. Political divisiveness only worsened the issue with different messages from federal and state leaders. Unfortunately, this pandemic has disproportionately affected communities of color and worsened racial disparities. Although the United States has struggled in managing Covid-19, hospitals say that improved treatments are leading to better outcomes for  Covid-19 patients, which is one positive point in this narrative.
