Scientific American: How to Fix COVID Contact Tracing

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, many public health departments are overwhelmed. In order to combat this, health officials are desperately trying to conduct more contact tracing, and even asking people to do contact tracing themselves. The hope was that contact tracing apps would be the silver bullet for contact tracing, but this is not the case. Many European countries have had these apps in place for months but had little success. To improve this, public health officials have decided to blend these contact tracing apps with manual contact tracing.
