ABC News: WHO reports 90% drop in world COVID-19 deaths since February

Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of the World Health Organization has reported that COVID-19 deaths have dropped by 90% globally since February. This can be celebrated as a success for vaccines and boosters and a cause for optimism for the future of the virus. Cases, as well as hospitalizations, are also considerably down since last winter. However, the WHO chief warns countries should not grow complacent as variants are continuously popping up worldwide and there are still billions of unvaccinated people in poorer nations.
