Reuters: EU says Novavax COVID shot must carry heart side-effect warning

The European Medicines Agency is recommending that the Novavax COVID-19 has a warning of 2 possible heart inflammations. On Wednesday the EMA made this statement due to a few cases of myocarditis and pericarditis after taking the shot. Novavax claims that there were no issues with heart inflammation during clinical trials but have said they will begin to collect more data soon. In June, The United States Food and Drug administration were the first to flag these rare cases of heart inflammation after taking the Novavax vaccine. These complications will only make it more difficult for the Novavax vaccines to be more widespread as they have only administered 250,000 vaccines since the launch of the shot in December.
