CNBC: UK becomes the first country to approve a dual Covid vaccine targeting omicron

The United Kingdom became the first nation to approve the long awaited dual COVID-19 vaccine which targets the original strains of the virus but with a specialized new ability to target the Omicron variant. The U.K.’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency approved the usage of the Moderna bivalent shots as a booster for adults in the fall. The United Kingdom government’s independent scientific advisory body, the Commission on Human Medicines has praised the decision as a step forward in fighting the constantly evolving spreading Omicron variant.The shot was shown to be effective against the first Omicron subvariant, BA.1, and more present and contagious sub variants such as BA.4 and BA.5.
