Privatization of COVID-19 response measures like tests, treatments, and vaccines as federal funding is beginning to run out. This will create a financial barrier for the most vulnerable Americans at a time where cases are expected to rise going into the winter. This comes in response to Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths being far below their peaks despite more than 2,600 people in the US dying per week from Covid-19 according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The current emergency declaration on Covid-19 expires in 2023 and if it is not renewed by the United States government federal funding for fighting Covid-19 will be largely gone.
