High death toll after Typhoon Darmey lands in Vietnam

At least 44 people are currently reported as dead after Typhoon Darmey hit the southern central region of Vietnam. In addition to the high death tool, the hurricane has also caused extensive damage and flooding, with many people still reported missing. Although the Typhoon hit Saturday and has since cleared up, predicted rains are expected to agitate the flooding issue. Vietnam is set to host the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and will still proceed as planned with the summit meetings. This the second natural disaster to strike Vietnam this month, as 75 peopled died recently due to flooding in the northern and central region of Vietnam.
