On November 12, 2017, Iran and Iraq suffered a horrific earthquake leaving 452 individuals dead and 7,100 injured. With a magnitude of 7.3 centered south of Halabja, Pakistan, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Turkey all experienced an aftershock. Iran and Iraq have initiated rescue efforts and a 3-day mourning period. The Iranian Red Crescent Society is working with rescue dogs, debris removal teams, and is providing emergency shelter and treatment to affected individuals. Although Iran sits on a major fault line and has suffered several earthquakes, none compare to the most recent.
