The New York Times: A New Covid-19 Crisis: Domestic Abuse Rises Worldwide

Having people worldwide on lockdown in their homes has resulted in much more dangerous situations for victims of domestic abuse. Domestic violence rates always go up around times when families spend more time together, such as long national holidays and vacations times (like summer vacations), so the extended period of time at home right now is resulting in the same trends. Domestic violence hotlines all over the world have been seeing increases in calls to these hotlines, some seeing reports of domestic abuse being increased by 20 percent.
