Powerful Earthquake Strikes Miles Below Amazon Rainforest in Peru

An 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Amazon jungle, the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, on Sunday killing two people. Injuring 15, and affecting at least 284 families. The earthquake hit in the north part of Peru and was felt as far as Venezuela. Officials have warned for potential landslides from the quake. This earthquake was the most powerful to hit the region since 2007 when another 8.0 magnitude quake hit which killed over 500 people and injured at least 1,300.
