Even though face coverings are mandatory in many areas as a method to decrease COVID-19 transmission, some people are still hesitant to wear the masks in public. One reason is that they believe it takes away their personal freedoms by conforming to the masses. Mixed messages in the media of whether or not masks are required can also make people less likely to follow the guidelines.
