With the Omicron variant originating in South Africa popping up in different nations around the world, American governors are stressing vigilance for the possibility of it showing up in the United States. With each new strain comes new concerns about how contagious it is, and even more pressing in some cases, how effective the vaccine is against it. For now, many public health officials are stressing that with new variants come even more importance of getting vaccinated and getting boosters to stop further mutations.
