NYTimes: Virus surges in New York City’s homeless shelters.

New York citizens are calling for people experiencing homelessness to be placed in hotels rather than homeless shelters as large numbers of people are contracting the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The large spread in these shelters makes sense, with sometimes more than twenty inhabitants in a room. Moving those experiencing homelessness to hotels would not be a new concept for New York City during the pandemic. During the beginning of Covid-19, hotels were used to curb spread in the homeless population. The main difference between then and now, is that many people utilizing shelters in the city have been vaccinated.
