Yahoo News: COVID vaccines for young children could be coming soon

Pfizer announced on Monday that their long-awaited vaccine for young children was found to elicit a strong immune response with no significant adverse effects. The dose given to the children was one-tenth the dose given to adults which were found to be well tolerated by their immune systems. Moderna found similar results last month but waited until Pfizer’s submission to go forward with emergency authorization. Approval for the Pfizer vaccine seems imminent as the trials tested almost 1700 children from ages under 1 to 5. The trials suggested that the vaccine was 80% effective against the Omicron variant.
