US News: COVID Boosters Could Save 90,000 Lives This Winter. Will Americans Get Them?

A new study by the Commonwealth Fund has predicted that up to 90,000 COVID-19-caused deaths, 936,000 hospitalizations, and $56 billion spent in 6 months could be avoided during the fall and winter if 80% of Americans receive their updated booster.  Currently, only 33% of all Americans and almost half of vaccinated Americans have received a booster. Only 4% of Americans have received the updated omicron-specific booster shot released in early September. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says that these vaccination numbers rank very poorly among other developed nations.
