NPR: Medical residents are starting to avoid states with abortion bans
Ever since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, data from AAMC has shown that students are less likely to apply for residency in states with abortion bans and restrictions. AAMC’s data revealed that OB-GYN residency applications in states where abortion is banned have dropped by 6.7%, where other states where it is legal have seen little to no changes.
