CNN: World’s first malaria vaccine to go to 360,000 African children

The country of Malawi has launched its massive vaccine pilot program to make the malaria vaccine available for all children up to two years of age. Kenya and Ghana plan to follow in providing the four-dose vaccine, known as RTS,S, in the upcoming weeks. In clinical trials, the vaccine has been shown to be effective 40% of the time. The World Health Organization states that the vaccine is a complementary malaria control tool in addition to mosquito nets and insecticides. Read the full article here.
