ABC7: Uber’s new in-app feature to text 911 debuts in LA County

The ridesharing app Uber has added a new pilot feature for users in Los Angeles County that allows riders and drivers to use a text-to-911 button to reach out to law enforcement in a discreet manner. Along with the user’s own message, this feature automatically provides his or her location, destination, and description of the car.
