WIRED: An AI Epidemiologist Sent the First Warnings of the Wuhan Virus

The Wuhan Coronavirus was first detected using artificial intelligence models. By using posts on forums and blogs, BlueDot, an AI company, collects this scattered data and looks at trends in posts in order to figure out its direction and spread. In order to detect the spread of the virus, the algorithm was able to scan plane tickets to see where infected individuals would be traveling. This allows them to track the spread of the virus and predict, and ultimately help prevent its spread. Read the full article here.
