NY Times: Can Smart Thermometers Track the Spread of the Coronavirus?

Kinsa Health makes internet-connected thermometers and records fevers as soon as they are experienced. Kinsa Health uses data for expected flu cases and compares it to the current fever rates. A spike in fevers could indicate the presence of Covid-19. Days before South Florida became a Covid-19 epicenter, Kinsa Health had data showing an abnormal increase in fevers.
