NY Times: Google Searches Can Help Us Find Emerging Covid-19 Outbreaks

Symptoms being searched on Google can help track outbreaks around the world. Data scientists used searches of “I can’t smell”, “fever”, and “chills” to find places where Covid-19 might be missed. Searches related to loss of smell are highest in states that have a strong Covid-19 presence like New York, New Jersey, Louisiana, and Michigan.
