NYTimes: San Jose Moves to Require Gun Owners to Have Insurance and Pay Annual Fees

San Jose is in development of a liability insurance that would require gun owners to pay an annual fee for suicide prevention and other safety programs. This law is intended to reduce gun violence. There was an overwhelming favor for this gun-ownership ordinance. If the measure is passed after the second reading, it will take into effect in August where 50,000 gun-owning households of San Jose would have to start paying fees.
