ABC News: Rescue Efforts Underway Following One Of the Most Destructive Storms Ever Recorded In The Philippines

More than 100 people died and dozens more are missing following one of the most destructive storms ever recorded in the Philippines. According to interior minister Naguib Sinarimbo, many of the deaths came from a village at the foothills of a mountain that had already been preparing for a tsunami but were not prepared for the mudslide that occurred following the storm. The mudslide and flash flood following the storm may be the cause of 80-100 deaths, including possibly entire families. Although rescue efforts are underway it is difficult for first responders to reach survivors due to the significant amount of mud.
