The droughts in California are causing scientists to rethink the use of desalination technology in order to increase the water supply. Originally, desalination was not an ideal solution to a water crisis due to how costly and time-consuming it would be, but because of frequent droughts, more water is becoming increasingly more necessary, forcing scientists to research more efficient desalination methods.
