CNN: As guns rise to leading cause of death among US children, research funding to help prevent and protect victims lags

While gun violence is the leading cause of death of children in the United States, current research funding fails to reflect this statistic. More than 4,300 children and teens died from guns in 2020, but federal funding has not followed proportionately. Continuous federal funding could offer insight and solutions to prevent firearm injuries and deaths, without infringing upon legal firearm ownership.
