Orange County’s first flu season death is a toddler

The Orange County Health Care Agency announced Thursday, November 9th, that the first death in the county due to the seasonal flu was a young toddler. The previously healthy male toddler, infected with influenza A virus, was not vaccinated against the flu. The flu is a highly contagious viral infection, caused by Influenza A or B virus, and is spread primarily by coughing and sneezing. Officials say the best way to combat against the flu is to be vaccinated, especially for infants, young children, and the elderly, who are are more susceptible to contracting the virus.
