Massive fire that killed 12 started by child playing with stove, causing ‘unprecedented’ loss


On Thursday evening a massive fire broke out in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City, ultimately killing 12 people and critically injuring 4 people. Officials have determined that the fire was caused by a child playing with a stove on the first floor of the apartment complex. With the exception of the September 11th terrorist attacks, this fire caused the greatest number of human deaths, in New York City, in the last 28 years.
