Record number of mysterious, paralyzing disease cases reported

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have invested 252 cases of possible acute flaccid myelitis (AFM). AFM has polio-like symptoms and can cause partial paralysis, severe respiratory illness, and neurological symptoms. The CDC is not sure what is causing AFM but it is believed to be related to a virus. As of now, the CDC reports there have been no deaths due to AFM in 2018.
