GSU: Early-Season Hurricanes Result In Greater Transmission Of Mosquito-Borne Infectious Disease, Study Shows

As a result of stagnant water from early-season hurricanes, the presence of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases places individuals in these areas at a greater risk of infection. Since these outbursts are attributed to the rapid and clustered movement of people during these hurricanes, the mosquitoes tend to affect the group of people as a whole, so scientists are researching new strategies to combat this rapid movement of disease.
