Scientific American: Four Out of Five Adolescents Worldwide Aren’t Getting Enough Exercise

A new study shows that 80 percent of adolescents around the world are not getting enough exercise. South Korea and the Philippines had the greatest levels of inactivity, while Bangladesh and India had the lowest level of inactivity. Just under 78 percent of boys did not meet the World Health Organization’s standard of 60 active minutes per day, and a staggering 85 percent for girls. “It’s an epidemic,” says professor of health research and policy of medicine at Stanford University Abby King.
