SF Chronicle: Twitter tells AI startup its face data is off limits

Twitter sent a cease-and-desist letter to the AI company Clearview accusing them of breaching their policies. Clearview AI licensed its facial recognition technology to many law enforcement agencies like local police departments and the FBI. Clearview forms its database by “scraping” websites like Twitter, Facebook, Venmo, and Youtube for publicly available photos.
