Recently, scientists have found warm water at a vital point underneath Antarctica’s “doomsday glacier,” a nickname given to one of Antarctica’s fastest melting glaciers. The warm water combined with the turbulence level has the efficiency to melt the base of the glacier. This alarming discovery has huge implications about global sea level rise and serve as a warning to everyone of the drastic changes being made from our contribution to climate change. The collapse of the Thwaites glacier could release a mass of water around the size of Great Britain or Florida and raise global sea levels by more than three feet.
