The Washington Post: The Big Number: One egg a day will not increase cardiovascular disease risks, analysis says

A compilations of three studies including 178,000 people has revealed that eating one egg per day does not increase heart disease or death, even among those with a history of heart disease or diabetes. Previously, these populations were advised against egg consumption because the yolk contained two-thirds of your daily recommended cholesterol intake. However, in 2015 the federal nutritional guidelines stopped recommending a dietary cholesterol limit. Researchers at McMaster University in Canada reported that there was no significant association between egg consumption and cholesterol levels. Eggs, containing only 78 calories, are actually considered quite nutritious as they are a good source of protein, vitamin D, and choline. The American Heart Association now recommends one egg or two egg whites per day, as part of a healthy diet.
