This month, the largest climate bill in US history passed the Senate, and this event marked the first achievement to take action against climate change. Senator Brian Schatz declares climate change, along with other environmental declines, a planetary emergency, with hopes of this issue becoming a bigger priority in the United States government. Examples of climate change include the rising sea levels in Hawaii, leading to the flooding of coastal communities, as well as the drought in Rio Grande, New Mexico. Unfortunately, because of the lack of support from public opinion, the economy’s reliance on fossil fuels deprioritized environmental action.
