NYTimes: Depleted Under Trump, a ‘Traumatized’ E.P.A. Struggles With Its Mission

During the 4 years of the Trump Administration, over 1,200 scientists and policy experts left the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With this loss, the agency is finding it difficult to formulate the policies integral to Biden’s climate plan, before a new administration comes in. Because of the infrastructure bill passed in 2021, the EPA is not strapped for cash, but rather doesn’t have anyone to pay to use it up. The agency must also consider not just policy proposals, but enactment which can significantly elongate the process.
