NBC: Fungal infections are becoming more common. Why isn’t there a vaccine?

As of recently, fungal infections have been getting gradually more prevalent in places such as the United States. In 2021, approximately 7,000 people died from various fungal diseases. Although vaccine trials for these fungal infections are occurring, it is difficult and does have its limitations. These limitations include the target of the vaccine (three different fungi) as well as the lack of urgency and funding to these trials. Not only that, but climate change is exacerbating the effects of fungal infections through drying out the soil and making certain fungi easier to inhale.
