NYT: Why Do Women Have More Autoimmune Diseases? Study Points to X Chromosome

A recent study, published Thursday, offers a potential explanation as to why women may have more autoimmune diseases. The research suggests that a set of molecules that act on the extra X chromosome carried by women can sometimes confuse the immune system. It may be possible to base future experiments on these molecules in order to find future treatments.
