LA Times: New coronavirus subvariant BA.2.75.2 tops concerns as officials gear up for potential winter wave
Despite declarations that the COVID-19 pandemic is over, worries continue to arise as a new variant is expected to emerge this fall/winter season. Officials recommend that individuals are boosted with the new bivalent booster which will help enhance their immunity against newer variants. Older vaccines are less effective against the newer variants. Other subvariants cannot be remedied by already existing therapies. Boosters are especially important since immunity wanes over time. Maintaining immunity against COVID-19 puts individuals at a lower risk of severe illness and death.
